First Saturdays at E.A.T. South

Have you followed us for a while but want to know more about what we do? Want to expand your gardening skills? First Saturdays at E.A.T. South are your chance to meet the staff, see what’s growing, and lend a hand with a project or two. First Saturday volunteers also get to take home vegetables!!!! (We know you want some basil, right?)

First Saturday projects begin at 8 am and change with the seasons. This time of year, we’ll clear out old squash and cucumber vines from summer beds and start getting ready for fall. Projects are hands-on work in the garden, but also expect mini lessons about weeds, pest id and anything else we stumble upon as we work. Make sure to bring hats, sunscreen and questions.

Kids are always welcome with their grown-ups, and this Saturday we are making seed balls, a fun and messy project for kids of all ages.

E.A.T. South exists because volunteers help us maintain the garden, care for chickens, teach field trips, staff summer camps, and even raise the funds that keep us growing - and keep the cat and chickens fed. Stop by Saturday and see what’s growing at your urban teaching farm!
