Do you want to start your own food business? The Cottage Food Law allows you to legally sell certain foods made in your home kitchen. Learn what you can make under the law and where you can find the resources to start your own business.
Janet Johnson, the Regional Extension Agent for Food Safety and Quality will explain the law and what foods qualify.
Andrea Mosely, Director, Alabama State University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will tell us about resources to help you with the business side of your food business.
If you're interested in getting a Cottage Food Certificate, Ms. Johnson will offer the required short test at the end of the workshop.
The workshop is free, but the fee to take the test and receive a certificate is $25. Checks, money orders, and cash are accepted. Checks and money orders should be made out to Alabama Cooperative Extension.
