Creating a Community Garden-Experiences from Montgomery's Neighborhood Garden

  • E.A.T South 485 Molton Street Montgomery, AL, 36104 (map)

If you’ve ever dreamed about building a garden on a vacant lot, a church green space or other community space, this workshop is for you. We’ll be joined by representatives from two different community gardens to discuss how they started their gardens, how they keep them going, and why the gardens are important to their neighborhoods.

Nick Rankins directs the nonprofit Young Men on a Mission and stewards the Nixon-Times Garden as part of his program’s work.

Lois Cortell manages the Old Cloverdale Community Garden.

Amanda Miller from Montgomery’s Office of Neighborhood Services will be available to answer questions about ways the city can support gardens.

The event is free, but registration is required. Email Caylor to reserve your spot.
