Indigo Workshop

  • E.A.T South 485 Molton Street Montgomery, AL, 36104 (map)

Join artist Tara Cady Sartorius at E.A.T. South and learn how to make the color blue from plants. From Asia to Africa to the U.S., the indigo plant has been a source for blue dye for thousands of years.

This introductory workshop will cover indigo plant care, how to harvest, and how to start an indigo vat. We'll also use dye from an earlier vat to dye paper or fabric.

Free, but please register by getting a free ticket here. That helps us better plan for materials for the workshop.

This workshop is organized for adults and older youth with an interest in plants or art. While this workshop is not organized with kids in mind, children are always welcome at E.A.T. South.

This workshop is possible by the Support the Arts License Tag Grant. You can support art at E.A.T. South and across Alabama when you buy this license plate
